The Best Snowboarding Events Across Australia This Season

With chairs only a few weeks from firing up, Australia’s resorts are once again stepping up to deliver a stacked calendar of snowboard events. From grassroots and development events to world-class competitions and community rail jams, there’s no shortage of stuff going on this season.

Whether you’re chasing banked slalom glory, FIS points, or just looking to ride with your crew, here’s a resort-by-resort breakdown of the must-hit snowboarding events in 2025.

Thredbo

Thredbo continues to lead the charge in Australian snowboarding culture, with a mix of world class events, comps and, of course, the world’s best Banked Slalom.

• Project Shred
  Saturday, 12 July 2025
  The all inclusive event aimed at young riders (13 years & under), focusing on progression and mentorship.
  
• Thredbo Ridercross
  Sunday, 20 July 2025
  The annual head-to-head snowboard cross race featuring a purpose built SBX course
  
• Thredbo Triple Crown:
  Rails – Monday, July 21st
  Kick off the Thredbo Triple Crown with a custom-built rail setup in the Cruiser Terrain Park
  
  Slopestyle – Friday, August 1^st
  Stop two of the Triple Crown, and new this season, Thredbo have teamed up with Snow Australia to officially sanction the Slopestyle and Big Air events as FIS competitions.
  
  Big Air – Monday, 25 August 2025
  The final stop of the Triple Crown series on the Q5 Jump.
  
• Transfer Banked Slalom
  Friday, 15 August 2025
  The 11th annual tournament of turns returns, celebrating the best of Australian snowboard culture.
  
• Bush Doof hosted by Tess Coady
  Saturday, August 30^th, 2025
  Presented by Monster Energy, this invite only event combines high intensity snowboarding with the one of the parties of the year, hosted by Olympic medalist Tess Coady.
  
• MOOKi’s Mini Pipe Cup
  Saturday, August 23rd, 2025
  A jam session in the Mooki mini-pipe with giveaways and prizes, presented by Scotty James.
  
• Stomping Grounds
  August/SeptemberKeep an eye out for the best riders in the world as they make their run into the Olympics
  

Perisher

Perisher’s snowboard specific events are few and far between these days, but there’s a heap of gigs at The Station and a Rail Jam happening in July

Perisher Park Show Down

Falls Creek

Falls Creek doesn’t sleep on events, and there are few to keep your eye on this year:

• Board Lounge Throwdown
  Wednesday, 25 June 2025
  An early-season rail jam open to snowboarders of all levels.
  
• Burton Mystery Series
  Saturday, 6 September 2025
  Cancelled last year due to weather, the event returns in 2025 – focused on all-ages, all-abilities riding, hosted in a banked slalom format with a welcoming vibe.
  
• Oakley Freestyle Series – The Dreamer
  Sunday, 14 September 2025
  Jam-style comp that prizes creativity and progression.

Mt Hotham

Known for its steeps and backcountry terrain, Mt Hotham leans into its freeride roots, offering some of the best natural terrain events on the calendar

• Freeride World Tour Qualifier
  Thursday, 24 July 2025 (Weather day: 25 July)
  The heaviest freeride event in the country. Riders drop into the Peach Bowl aiming to earn a shot at the global FWT.
  
• Hotham Banked Slalom
  Friday, 8 August 2025
  A community event with a cult following — flow, speed, and style through natural terrain.
  
• Hotham Rail Jam
  Date TBC
  An evening showdown in the Big D Terrain Park, under lights and packed with energy.

Mt Buller

Mt Buller delivers iconic freestyle events with top-tier terrain parks and a passionate local scene.
