Every now and then, Australia just turns it on.
For most of the winter, the Kosciuszko Main Range gets battered by strong winds, stripping what little snow settles on top, often rendering its exposed terrain to rock-hard ice fields where crampons and ice axes are worth their weight in gold.
But a few times a season, everything just lines up. The sun comes out, the wind dies, the snow settles in all the right places and if you’re willing to walk, you can find some of the best lines in the country.
August 18th was one of those days.
Here’s a visual diary from Boen Ferguson, Jye Kearney, Sam Noller and Noah Regan with his camera in hand as they ventured beyond the resort boundary to score some of the best turns we’ve seen this season, if not in the last decade.
As for the location? Buy them a beer and they might tell you.
