It’s the most watchable snowboard contest of the season – your favourite snowboarders return to Aspen for Winter X-Games 2026, celebrating 25 consecutive years at Buttermilk. This year features four snowboard disciplines; Superpipe, Slopestyle, Big Air, and Knuckle Huck for both the men and the women – that’s 8 individual snowboarding events to get stuck into over the weekend, live and free.
It’s set to be a big few days of competition, and the stakes are high as this is the last major event before the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in February. Last year, Scotty James did it – he claimed his fourth consecutive X-Games Superpipe gold, officially 4-peating to match Shaun White’s record and cementing his status as the X-Games GOAT of the superpipe. Can he make it five in a row and stand alone at the top? Keep an eye on kiwi rookie Cam Melville Ives who’s fresh off a podium finish at Laax and making his X-Games debut in the men’s superpipe. And with Val in form, can we repeat what happened last weekend and get a full southern-hemi podium? Time will tell.
On the women’s side, can Olympic champion Zoi Sadowski-Synnott return to the podium after being relatively quiet lately? And what number rotation will we reach in both the men’s and women’s big air? If the Olympic disciplines aren’t your thing, watch the knuckle huck contest and try to name the tricks – it’s pure creative carnage!
