With just over a month until the Winter Olympics begin in Beijing, spots on each team are up for grabs. The pressure is on, and there’s a few more events to go down before the Olympics kicks off in Feb. First up is the FIS World Cup Snow Rodeo Event. Which, Aussie Charles Beckinsale has built the course for.
Tune in 1st January at 4am AEST to watch the Female Slope Qualifiers below:
And straight after at 7:00AM AEST you can watch Mens Slopestyle Semi Finals here:
Things are really heating up for team Canada as they can only send 4 male Big Air & Slopestyle athletes to the Olympic Games. With @maxparrot already qualified that leaves only 3 spots available.
With @markmcmorris solidifying his position after getting 3rd at the latest @dewtour event the pressure is on! Will the younger riders like @darcysharpe@liam_brearley or @frank_jobin clinch a spot or will the more experienced and reigning Big Air Olympic champ @sebtoots rise yet again under the pressure?
The Snow Rodeo kicks off today in Calgary with practice! Below are the key days for each event:
Friday 31: Men’s slopestyle qualification
Saturday 1: Women’s slopestyle qualification & Men’s slopestyle semifinals at 3 p.m
Sunday 2: Slopestyle finals & halfpipe finals
Now, if you’re a VPN wiz…you can hit the link here to livestream it. Stay tuned for the FIS World Cup livestream details coming soon…What a way to get through the New Years Day recovery than viewing some heated snowboard competition. Even better if it’s a 3 day bender.
One other thing to know to put yourselves in the body of the riders, is it’s going to be mega cold. A polar vortex sweeping through Western Canada has the temperature forecasted at -22 C when competition begins. Just some more challenges thrown into the mix.
Stay tuned here for more event updates.
