The Thredbo Snow Series is back and it’s coming in hot with a $65K Prize Purse up for grabs for competitors to take home and go large with.
What’s the Snow Series? It’s one of the last running series events hosted by Thredbo Resort… RAD! It’s open to Opens, Juniors and Grom snowboarders to battle it out over five different disciplined events; Rails, Ridercross, Freeride, Slopestyle and Big Air.
The rails event went down last week, and saw some of Australia’s best riders roll up to the drop in ramp to bring the heat and have a crack taking home the cash. There’s still 4 events to go, and a big opportunity to show up, blow up and walk home with some bragging rights and cheddar.
Next up is Ridercross, on 2 August. There are individual qualifying heats before the finals where four riders at a time battle it out on the specifically designed boardercross course. This event is for the fast and furious!
The Freeride event goes down after, on the 16th of August. This event takes on Thredbo’s big mountain steep and deep terrain. Ride your unique and creative line with style and flow down Thredbo’s iconic “The Bluff” run. Go big, or go home!
Slopestyle follows the Freeride event on the 30th of August. This is a staple event in the snowboarding scene. Ride the course at your best on a mix of jumps and rail features where competitors need to put down a clean run from top to bottom. This is a true test of the overall ability of a rider and needs to have consistency dialed. This is your chance to show off that bag of tricks you’ve got under your belt.
The final event of the series is the Big Air on the 3rd of September. This is where riders send it to the moon and back on Thredbo’s famous Q5 booter. You can spin, huck, flip and land on your two feet to take out this one! The perfect event to crown the series champion.
