Burton and Team New Zealand Unveil Competition Wear for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics

Team NZ will run Burton outerwear chasing medals in Italy

Burton Snowboards has collaborated with Snow Sports New Zealand to create competition wear for the nation’s snowboard team for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics – the team’s largest event of the year.

All New Zealand slopestyle, big air and halfpipe athletes will wear the outerwear at their events, including Burton team riders Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, Dane Menzies, and Cam Melville Ives.

The outerwear, built on Burton’s newly released Reserve collection, represents a fusion of technical performance and authentic rider style. The Reserve collection launched earlier this year as Burton’s premium performance line, combining cutting-edge technology with the fit and feel riders demand at the highest level of competition.

Working closely with New Zealand Burton riders throughout the development process, the design team focused on creating garments that are functional on the world stage while staying true to what riders actually wear on the mountain. The result is outerwear that performs at the highest level without compromising the style and comfort that define Burton’s approach to snowboarding.

The design takes a classic, minimal approach with a black base and white detailing, echoing the aesthetic of many New Zealand national sporting uniforms. The Reserve Jacket and Reserve Pant incorporate the fern – the nation’s symbol – as a subtle design element, grounding the collection in New Zealand’s visual identity while maintaining a clean, understated look.

All pieces were produced at Threadworks, Burton’s specialty outerwear facility in China, ensuring the same exacting standards and attention to detail that go into Burton’s premium collections.

The collection is now on display at Burton’s Queenstown store alongside the brand’s “From Burton to the World” collection.
