The wait is over… Butterfly in a Blizzard, the raw and deeply personal documentary starring pro snowboarder Kimmy Fasani, is set to premiere worldwide this spring. Directed by Rose Corr and Tyler Hamlet, this powerful film pulls back the curtain on Fasani’s transformation from elite athlete to mother, revealing the struggles, triumphs, and unfiltered realities of balancing career, identity, and parenthood.
The official trailer just dropped, offering a glimpse into Fasani’s five-year journey of resilience, love, and self-discovery.
“Motherhood changed me in ways I never expected,” Fasani shares. “Butterfly in a Blizzard captures the highs and lows of navigating that change while still chasing my dreams. I hope it sparks a much-needed conversation about matrescence and what it truly means to redefine yourself.”
The film hits digital platforms on March 18, 2025, with pre-orders now live on iTunes. Its world festival premiere is set for February 15, 2025, at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival at The Wilma in Missoula, Montana.
“Kimmy’s willingness to share her raw, unfiltered reality makes this film unlike anything else,” says co-director Rose Corr. “It’s a deeply personal look at what it means to evolve while facing life’s biggest transformations.”
Spanning years of never-before-seen footage, Butterfly in a Blizzard takes viewers inside Fasani’s most defining moments—navigating new motherhood, relationship shifts, childhood trauma, and even a breast cancer diagnosis—all while fighting to stay true to herself.
“What started as a story about balancing parenthood and sport became something so much bigger,” co-director Tyler Hamlet adds. “This film will change the way you see strength, resilience, and success.”
This is more than a film… it’s an experience.
