Jye Kearney’s Charity Golf Day at Coolamatong Golf Club

Snowboarding meets golf in the name of charity

Words by Coolamatong Golf Club

“Aussie snowboarding legend Jye Kearney loves golf. He loves to come to the course where he finds a sense of peace. Wanting to share his love of the game he approached the golf club to hold a fundraising day to raise money for his preferred charity In Pieces Together, a mental health community founded in response to the 3,000 + lives lost to suicide in Australia each year.

96 players, both members and guests took to the field on Saturday 27th in very windy conditions.

There were many good plays throughout the day. Winners were Scratch team – Jordan Sell and Soren Stoetrup, Net winning team – Ben Hearn and Simon Freebody, Scratch Runner-Up Jacob Ellis and Ewan Murdoch, Scratch third Josh Crawford and Christie Barry, Nett third Alan Parsons and Jason Christie. Nearest the pins on the par 3 holes were Aaron Fenton, Elise Cave, Soren Stoetrup, Karen Caban, Janece Peters, Josh Crawford, Bryn Nicholas. Longest drive men Jordan Sell and ladies Janece Peters.

A raffle was also held where some great prizes were won. Christie Barry won the Thredbo season pass. Benje Munce won the Burton Snowboard who then very kindly put it back up for auction. After some fierce bidding Josh Lean’s offer of $500 saw him take home the board

It was a very successful day with the total monies raised for In Pieces Together of $4,100. The club and Jye thank all the players and sponsors for contributing to a great day. This will be an annual event and we hope to see you all next year.”
