Here we go...Event number 1 on the World Cup calendar is going down in a couple days.

Big Air Chur is going down this Saturday October 23! It’s the first event to kick of the World Cup and Olympic snowboarding season. Time for the pro’s to put down what they’ve been working on over the off season…a time to make those shake in their boots heading into the 2022 Winter Olympics also.

This event is the opportunity for athletes to lock down a sport on their respective national squads ahead of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, which is just around the corner. Just over 100 days away.

Where is it going down? It’s in Switzerland…were most athletes have been riding the past few weeks at The Stomping Grounds.

All the big names are in attendance, as expected. Reigning World Champion Laurie Blouin (CAN) leads the charge on the women’s side, though she’ll have the likes of all-time great Jamie Anderson (USA), Enni Rukijarvi (FIN), Anna Gasser (AUT) and our own Aussie Tess Coady looking to make her mark for event number 1 of the season.

For the dudes, World Champion Mark McMorris will headline a field that also includes everyone from Red Gerard (USA) to Marcus Kleveland (NOR), Sebastien Toutant (CAN) to Takeru Otsuka (JPN), Rene Rinnekangas (FIN) to Leon Vockensperger (GER), and so many others. Our pick, young gun Japanese Rider Taiga Hasegawa who has been putting it down with all four 18’s under his belt.

Aussie slope and big air rider will be competing, Matty Cox is looking to head into the first event of the season hot…securing his spot at the top heading into a big comp season.
