Modest is the love child of Pete’s dedication and involvement to the snowboard industry for over twenty years. Pro, mentor and now business owner, he’s doing things his way, leaving old trends behind. In the smoke of his white dust normally directed towards skiers.
Pete Long has been around the scene for a hot minute now! Hailing from Sydney and currently residing on the Northern Beaches, he has been a huge advocate for Australian snowboarding over the past 20 years and has been just about everywhere you can snowboard around the globe. A true boarder through and through.
Modest is more than just an eyewear company – it’s a brand that’s ticking boxes that Pete always wanted to see ticked throughout his earlier days of being a snowboarder. He’s putting the local snowboard scene here in Australia first on his priority list, supporting the core and key riders and elevating the incredible community Down Under in everything he does.
The rapid progression of riding here in Australia and New Zealand over the past few years has been an enjoyable one to watch. On par with the international scene in the Northern Hemisphere. Pete wanted to not only create a goggle and eyewear company that had some character and cut through the ‘vanilla’ market but also use it as a tool to elevate these local riders to the scale they deserve.

Modest has been kicking goals from the get go, which was six years ago now! What was an idea has now grown into so much more and we here at Transfer are all about it.
Pete and Modest were one of the main players to bring out the incredible event that was Holy Bowly Down Under last spring at Thredbo Resort. An event that pushed the level of riding here in Australia and brought the entire community together. Devastating it’s not going ahead this year due to COVID.
He’s also been key in supporting up and coming female talent in the local snowboard scene, helping push riders through Modest’s channels such as Tess Coady, Zoe Parsons, Maria Thomsen and lots more.
They’ve just dropped their new 2020 lineup of goggles and thank god! Gone are the days of bland, boring and futuristic looking googles you’d use to go into a galactic space battle with. Clean, simple, stylish with a hint of culture.
It’s been beyond difficult times for any brand this year and if there’s any that you should be supporting, if not already, it’s local brands like Modest. Owned by snowboarders and run by snowboarders. A rad community with a goggle to go with it.
