Words: The Gear God

When it comes to discussing the crème de la crème of side hit wizards. One name stands out above the rest. Coming in at 5.8ft, weighing 146 pounds, he hails from La Tronche, France. If you haven’t guessed by now we’re talking about Arthur Longo.

If gravity wasn’t a thing I truly believe this man could fist bump the moon before effortlessly touching back down on earth without landing clearance. Just in case you haven’t feasted your eyes and drooled over side hit euphoria chapters 1 through 3 do yourself a favour. Arthur absolutely oozes style so it was only a matter of time before he got his own outerwear collection to match, this year’s drop being the best so far. Volcom is no stranger to making clean and stylish looking outerwear and this is no exception! With a variation of options to choose from there really is something for everyone. If you’re not already franticly scrolling the Volcom website, let’s take a closer look at what to expect.

The Longo Pull Over with its streetwear urbanity features a two tone colourway partnering with white accents on the hood lace, vent mesh, buttons and zippers plus a cherry on top “OG Volcom Patch” it has a homely relaxed fit which can be noticed through the chest and shoulders, from first try it sung unrestricting comfort.

With this pullover it really is all about the little things, stacked with features like the elastic wrist cuff system, ticket ring, brushed tricot lined pockets which makes other jackets feel like steel wool, removable hood and stretchy adjustable powder skirt it really does tick all the boxes.

Now time to transition (get it) into the Longo Gore-Tex pants! With a nice relaxed fit, straight out of the early 2000’s these are sure to be a lift line pleaser. Matching the pullover the elastic cuff is sensational; the era of zip cuffs is officially dead and I for one am all for the change.

The one feature that really ties both these garments together is Volcom’s Zip Tech jacket to pants interface; this is an absolute game changer. The bottom of the powder skirt zips into a track underneath the waist band, connect to the left zip to the right so easy; this unbeatable design keeps snow out from rails to ragdolls, season starter to spring laps, the days of Father Winters icy cold touch burning your back and filling up your crack are officially a thing of the past!

Now! To the more technical side of things. The Longo Pull Over has a waterproof/breathability rating 10,000mm / 10,000gm² this garment is a shell partnered with V-science breathable lining system which stores heat when you need it and releases it when you don’t. I’d put this smack bang in the middle for the warmth rating. This retails for $320 while the Gore-Tex jacket option retails for $550.

The Longo Gore-Tex pants need no introduction of water proof ratings as the name speaks for itself, guaranteed to keep you dry. These boast a 2 layer Gore shell, which offers amazing protection against the elements. Teamed with fully taped seams plus the V-science system will protect you from the harshest of conditions, equal to pullover mid warmth rating. These retail for $450 while the 10,000mm / 10,000gm² version retails for $250.

The lethal combo was put through the ringer and easily withstood an entire classic Aussie drizzle day at Thredbo Resort. We may not all be able to hit ridiculous transitions like the supreme deity himself, but hey! At least we can look like him.
