3 Year Pirate Film Project ‘DRIVEN’ Drops December 5th!

In a time of 12 second Instagram Reels and disposable TikTok clips, all shot on devices that fit in your pocket, DRIVEN bears the fruits of a three-year harvest captured with state-of-the-art filming equipment, deployed by some of the most experienced professionals in the business.

YES, YES, YES!

The Pirates are back and are proud to share the news that their latest snowboard movie DRIVEN is released online on December 5th, 2021. We’ll be dropping it live on transfermag.com and will be available to view on Red Bull TV.

DRIVEN is a film about the motivation, inspiration and drive that fuels a three-year snowboard movie project featuring John Jackson, Gigi Rüf, Manuel Diaz & Victor Daviet

This is a film about what drives these four men to snowboard, something which in turn through this movie, we hope drives you to go snowboarding.

DRIVEN follows these four powder hounds across America, Austria, Canada, Japan and Kamchatka. The DRIVEN crew spent one month in each location to maximize potential, while minimizing their carbon footprint. Pro snowboarders are lucky enough to visit places that many can only dream of and DRIVEN transports viewers to far-out corners of the world they may not otherwise get to experience. From the steep, snow-capped pillows of British Columbia to the ash scorched slopes of Kamchatka’s volcanic mountains which overlook the Pacific Ocean. Visiting far flung places to go snowboarding elevates the risk factor and so working with a tight knit crew is essential, which forms life-long bonds. DRIVEN explores the camaraderie formed by such bonds and also the different ways our four heroes decompress, motivate and thrive together.

If you haven’t caught already the Pirates’ 4-part-mini-series: ‘Red Bull: Making Driven, How to Capture Snowboarding on Film’, make sure you do to see the lengths the whole crew went to in making this movie. Rest assured these four dudes also put in the hard yards and lugged heavy gear, hauled ass and most definitely earned the right to have their turns documented.

But what is a rider’s biggest concern making a movie over three years? “Seeing if our riding and work from three years ago would stand the test of time and stay relevant,” puzzles the elder statesman of the group, Christian “Gigi” Rüf.

For years now, decades, the Pirates have been at the forefront of snowboarding movie production and with DRIVEN, the bar’s risen again. DRIVEN will go live December 5! Stay tuned…
