A day for Jake! The godfather of snowboarding, Jake Burton Carpenter passed away on the 20th of November in 2019. Snowboarding had lost its father. Its innovator. Its pioneer. Its number one advocate.
He was at the forefront of pushing the ‘One World’ team video and the linkage of Jake throughout the film is amazing. Heartfelt. Passion. Pride.
The first annual ‘A Day for Jake’ went down on March 13, 2020 where riders all around the world came together, a global day of snowboarding to celebrate the legacy of Jake Burton Carpenter.
You can see in the video, that all the team riders and those touched by snowboarding were all in attendance. Thousands of riders turned up to celebrate the life of Jake and to get in a lifetime of turns, runs, airs and slashes.
Jake’s legacy is set in snow and is here to stay forever. The burton brand, team and those around all speak the language of Jake which is simple yet so profound – GO SNOWBOARDING.
So rad to see Jakes family now getting heavily involved in the brand! Giving back to the community that Jake has created. Tim his son, recently posting below about the passing of his father Jake, and the stoke he has to dive in and give back.
