Saddle up and ride! For the first mission to kick of the ‘Winter Missions‘ series in NZ we’ve recruited Roland Morley-Brown back as host and he’s brought together the dangerous duo that is Will Jackways and Mitchy Davern.
With fresh snow on everyone’s radar in NZ, the crew decided to hit Lake Ohau Lodge and rip the Ohau snow fields. Ohau is located in the Mackenzie High Country, cradled between the Ohau Range to the west in the Main Divide and the Ben Ohau range to the east. It’s a small but JAM PACKED snow field with lots of hits, minimal crowds and one of the best spots to ride when the snow is on.
Lucky for the crew, the snow was ON. Will Jackways is a pro rider from NZ and knows Ohau like the back of his hand. Will now runs and operates alongside his wife Abby, Explore Wanaka which offers riders incredible snow experiences hosted by passionate locals like Will. From heli-boarding, to club fields or golf, they do it all.
Will boasts 38 back to back winters and along with it a standout career as a pro rider in the backcountry, with multiple international film parts, covers, adventures and more.
So Will, alongside RMB made for epic guides during the mission at Ohau. Accompanying these two legends of NZ snowboarding is young buck, Mitch Davern. Mitch is the kid to watch in Slopestyle and Big Air at the moment, but is also a threat on anything his board heads towards. As you can see in the episode, his talent is not only set to the terrain park.
The crew make make hay while the sun shines and get after it for 2 days up at Ohau. Fresh snow, first tracks, first lines, first hits…they kicked into turbo mode from arrival to departure.
